Hear Ye! Hear Ye!  New Social Justice Ministry Grant Available for Gateway Central District
What are your Social Justice Goals? What drives you to action and ministry?  If this is something you feel passionate about, I have exciting news!  The Gateway Central District has just started taking applications for a brand new Social Justice Ministry Grant.  Applications are due June 13, 2019 at Noon, so please don’t delay in applying for this new funding source.
It is our hope that this funding can help churches in the Gateway Central District focus on the important work of Social Justice Ministry.   The Grant Committee will be looking to fund existing Social Justice Ministries and programs as well as churches who want to develop something new.  Areas of particular importance include ending racism, unacceptable public education, and sub-standard housing.  We also wish to support creating realistic living wages, improving race relations, anti-poverty measures, and restorative justice issues such as the School-to-Prison Pipeline.  We challenge our District’s churches, pastors, and laity to find long-term solutions for the root causes of these problems, and not just a quick fix for the symptoms of these issues.
The United Methodist Church has a long history of concern for Social Justice going all the way back to John Wesley and the early Methodists.  With the social injustices of today’s day and age, creating ministries for those in need is more important than ever.  Together we can transform lives by taking social action!  Please help us get the word out about this new Gateway Central Social Justice Grant by sharing this link:
